Welcome to Sola Fide!

We’re so happy that you’ve completed your course of study at MLC and are ready to join us in the harvest field! Here at Sola Fide, we’re taking a step into the new and different as we add high school grades to our campus. Hopefully it’s clear from your call document and cover letter that the center-cut portion of your call is to be a social studies teacher. For now, we expect that to be for grades 5-9 (three separate social studies preps). Your other daily teaching load will be something that we decide quickly based on your strengths. The rest of the staff have committed to remaining flexible in our planning as we get you on board here.

We want to make sure we support you as you step into this call and into the new and different of adulthood. PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS. We don’t expect you to know everything right from the bump. Things that aren’t always easy include:

  • Where do I find school documents?

  • How do I move my stuff?

  • How do I get electrical service?

  • How do I get my gas turned on?

  • Why should I wait to buy a car until after I move?

  • Where are the good restaurants?

  • How do I cook food like a normal adult?

  • How do I deal with person X?

  • How are called worker taxes diffferent?

  • How do I set up an IRA?

Sola Fide is in the heart of Gwinnett County, Georgia. It’s one of the most diverse and vibrant counties in America. We look forward to sharing more about this with you over the phone and in person. One thing to have on your brain about Gwinnett County… Traffic takes time here. Near Sola Fide, I ususally assume 2 miles will take about 7 minutes. As you seek out housing, entertainment, shopping, and the like, you’ll do well to budget more car time than most places in the US.

There is a lot that we love about Sola Fide. As we add high school, we’re working hard to hang on to those things that we love. We’re also working hard to be open-minded as we add four new grades over the next four years. The school infomation and handbooks serve us well, but we expect some major revisions as we start to work through the adjustments that come with having 15 different grade levels on a small campus.

Over the last school year, we rolled out a set of five core values that serve to unify our vision, objectives, and actions. We need forgiveness, mercy, and righteousness, so we strive to keep GRACE at the center and core of everything we do. We want to follow God’s directives toward truth and justice as we carry ourselves with INTEGRITY. We work hard every day to make sure that each teacher and student feels at home at Sola Fide and feels like a valued member of our FAMILY. We elevate the importance of asking questions and exploring God’s creation, therefore we always encourage CURIOSITY. Finally, we know that life will be filled with trials, temptations and frustrations, but these are also chances to praise God with the passion and perseverance that is central to GRIT.
